June 2021 FSS Newsletter

Dear FSS participants and Community Members,

“The poppy flower only grows in  the absence of other flowers and only in ground that has been churned.  In perhaps the best known poem of World War I, when Dr. John McCrae observed poppies growing between the crosses on the soldier’s graves, it inspired him to write the poem In Flanders Fields.  The poppy has since become known as “The Flower of Remembrance” and is worn in memory of our veterans.  Let’s share the poppy in remembrance of the veterans as well as the active service members and wishing you a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.”   See you in June!  While you are waiting for summer to begin, check out these cool events in the area:

Mark your calendars:  FSS Connection Group Meeting on June 14, 2021 at 9 am.  Oshkosh Kids Foundation will be talking about their organization and what they have planned for the near future.  See page 3 for more information.   All are welcome!

Oshkosh Back To School Fair :  The Back to School Fair will be changing this year. We will be limiting contact with family and friends but we will continue to provide school supplies, hygiene, shoes and clothing.  I am taking referrals so please give me a call if you want to sign up.  920-424-1470 ext 133.  See page 7 for more information.

Back to School Fundraiser:  Come support the BTSF by eating at the Oshkosh Culver’s on Westowne on June 8th from 11am– 2 pm and 5 pm-7 pm.  10% of your order will support the BTSF which gives school supplies, clothing, shoes, and hygiene products to low income students grades K-12th.  More information on page 8.
